Netherlands vs Germany Match Preview

All eyes will be on Johan Cruijff Arena when Netherlands and Germany lock horns in Amsterdam in a highly-anticipated Nations League game. The Oranje aim to build on a 5-2 triumph over Bosnia and they are surely capable of making life difficult for the home side. Both Donyell Malen and Jurrien Timber should be recalled to the starting XI, while Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong remains in the recovery room.

The Germans, on the other hand, rolled over Hungary 5-0 in the opening match of their Nations League campaign and, as a result, they are brimming with confidence ahead of the trip to Amsterdam. Given their attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Julian Nagelsmann is likely to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation, with new West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug up front as a lone forward.

How the bookies view it: Jilimacao sitting on the fence

This is a tough call and it’s reflected in the odds with Jilimacao pricing both the Netherlands and Germany at 8/5. The draw pays 5/2 and that will be a popular choice for punters.

Recent head to head: Very little between bitter rivals

There has been nothing to separate these sides in the last 12 years, with the last seven meetings producing two wins apiece and three draws. If you include games with West and East Germany before reunification, it’s the Germans who have the edge in the overall head to head, with 17 victories to 11.

Players to watch: Kai flyer can deliver again

Kai Havertz played mainly as a lead striker at the Euros but operated in a deeper role against Hungary as Nicklas Fullkrug started up front. The Arsenal star still managed to score from a late penalty and Havertz is 2/1 for another goal here.

Cody Gakpo delivered for Andy after he tipped him to score against the Bosnians and he’s on a hot streak at international level. The Liverpool man also netted three times at Euro 2024 and he’s 11/5 for anytime scorer here.

Probable line-ups

After such impressive weekend wins, I’d imagine both teams should be along similar lines. But Nagelsmann could make a change up front after West Ham star Fullkrug came off after an hour on Saturday.

Netherlands: Verbruggen, Van Dijk, Ake, De Ligt, Dumfries, Gravenberch, Schouten, Reijnders, Simons, Zirkzee, Gakpo.

Germany: Ter Stegen, Tah, Kimmich, Schlotterbeck, Raum, Gross, Heinrichs, Andrich, Musiala, Wirtz, Havertz.

Netherlands vs Germany Prediction

Netherlands have an inconsistent home form at the moment. They were winless in three of their last five home outings. However, won two of the last three and has leaked in both which counts much against a team ike Germany.

On the other hand, Germany also have an inconsistent form on the road recording four winless games in the past five. However, they won one and draw two of the past five and their last away match was against Spain in the Euro quarterfinals, which ended in a defeat for them after extra time.

By the looks of things, we are inclined to back a tip in favor of the Germany side. We like to start with the draw no bet tip in favor of the Germany side. Both teams to score option will be our second pick suggestion as both teams have allowed goals in their latest games at respective patches.

Do also note that the German midfielder Jamal Musiala has scored 4 goals and 3 assists in his last six appearances for Germany across all competitions. Thus, we like to suggest Musiala to score anytime tip for this match.
