Albania vs Georgia Match Preview
Buoyed by a 2-1 win over Ukraine, Albania will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on Georgia on Tuesday evening. The Albanians kicked off their Nations League campaign in style and, no doubt, they are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of Georgia. Barring any fresh injury worries, head coach Sylvinho is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Ukrainians. Sivasspor attacker Rey Manaj should continue leading the line for the hosts.
The visitors, on the other hand, rolled over Czech Republic 4-1 in their opener, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opening his goal-scoring account. The Napoli star is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back-line and given Georgia’s attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. There are no fresh injury concerns in the away team.
How the bookies view it: Odds in the centre
As expected, bookmakers found it hard to nominate a favourite ahead of this fixture. Albania’s triumph is priced at 8/5 while the away win is currently 7/4 at JILIMACAO. You can bet on the draw at 23/10.
Recent head-to-head: Georgia with a slight edge
The last official fixture between the two nations was in 2005 but they have played multiple friendlies in the years since. The last five matches were close, while Georgia hold the advantage with 2-0 and three draws in the last five meetings.
Players to watch – Kvaratskhelia is a machine
Both managers will likely keep the same line-ups for the second and last match from this cycle since both teams secured the three points confidently.
Singling out a player from the Albanian squad to score a goal is a tough call. On the other end, however, stands a man named Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian playmaker is quickly becoming a national hero and has contributed to 13 goals in his ten appearances in this competition to date. He has scored seven goals and assisted six.
Probable line-ups
Albania: Strakosha, Hysaj, Ismajli, Kumbulla, Mitaj, Ramadani, Asllani, Asani, Laci, Bajrami, Manaj
Georgia: Mamardashvili, Gvelesiani, Kashia, Dvali, Kakabadze, Chakvetadze, Kochorashvili, Kiteishvili, Lochoshvili, Mikautadze, Kvaratskhelia
Albania vs Georgia Prediction
Despite of all the upper hands, we have a major drawback to point for Georgia as they lost five of the last six road trips. The match they won in that period was against Montenegro. However, they have managed to score in their last five away matches.
Meanwhile, Albania follows an inconsistent home form but has managed to record four unbeaten games in the last six. The matches they lost in that period were against Spain and Chile. Since they both have an equally balanced display at respective patches,we are quite not sure about picking one as a winner here. But the overall upper hand of Georgia inclines us to go for the away win or draw here. Quite a risky take but the stats back it so we like to put it forward.
But the chances of a highly competitive match still remains as they both have consistently been in form on the final third. The Georgian offense seems to have an upper hand with two in-form strikers especially Kvarastskhelia who has netted 2 goals and one assist in the last three National appearances.
